For many people this Covid-19 epidemic has shaken up their world. But it’s important to remember, that life is a continual series of mountain tops and valleys. A combination of happy moments, normal experiences, and difficult situations. Ecclesiastes 7:14 says; “In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity, consider: God has made the one as well as the other.”
The way you respond to this difficult seasons will have a big effect on how your experience it. When you’re able to navigate a challenging situation in a healthy way, not only do you experience growth, but you also enjoy the journey a whole lot more.
So here are five steps to navigating the frustrations of this COVID-19 epidemic in a healthy way:
#1 – GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO BE HUMAN
This may not be the most productive season of your life. It may be that you even make some mistakes through this time that makes things worse. While there will always be time to learn lessons for the future. In this moment, release yourself from any guilt, shame, and condemnation that you may be tempted to feel. And allow yourself to just be human.
#2 – FIND STRENGTH IN GOD
Release your worries, your fears, and your anxieties about this pandemic to God through prayer. Be encouraged by meditating on the life-giving promises found in the Scriptures. And allow yourself to experience God’s grace through the encouragement & support available in spiritual friendships.
#3 – INTERPRET THIS COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN THE HEALTHIEST WAY POSSIBLE
There is always more than one way to view any situation. Some people seem to be able to take great situations and somehow view them negatively, while there are others who can always seem to find the silver lining even in a bad situation. How you choose to interpret these circumstances that we’re in right now will have a massive impact on how you feel about it. Remember, life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it.
#4 – CHANGE WHAT YOU CAN, ACCEPT WHAT YOU CAN’T
Once you have internalized this situation in the healthiest manner possible by doing everything mentioned above. Then you’re in a state where can actually begin to work through this challenging time from a healthy place in your soul. At this point, change what you can while at the same time accepting the things that you can’t change.
#5 – REMEMBER THAT THIS TOO WILL PASS
All of life is impermanent. The problems that seem so overwhelming right now will one day be nothing but a distant memory. Find hope in the reality that this epidemic won’t last forever. And remind yourself that the best is yet to come!
